Ai Nyember – Kerekeh

I actually didn’t plan to write about this trip cause all the pictures I got there are all pretty much at the same spot and that it was just a short half day trip, just wanted to get some pictures while relaxing and hammocking. But after the trip ended I couldn’t hold myself not to share our adventure that day.

So it was just a week ago I finished my 8 days trip so last weekend I meant to just take a rest at home but around noon a friend asked me if I wanna join him to go to Ai Nyember Waterfall. I went there once like 5 years ago and I thought it’s not too far so maybe I could just relax there.

It is only like 20 minutes driving away from my house. Located in Kerekeh Village Unter Iwes District Sumbawa. The water was pretty ok,,I mean there were some holes and rocky but it was still better than some roads to other waterfall. It was just slippery because of the rain  a day before. And there is no sign or anything so to find this waterfall maybe you’ll need help from the villagers or bring someone who’s been there before. My friend and I have been there before so it was pretty easy for us to find the way. We chose to walk through someone’s field this time but the grass was pretty high so it was kinda difficult to walk that there were some holes we couldn’t see. Met some villagers who told me to be careful and right after they said that my foot got into the hole and I fell into the field -,-

We walked for 35 minutes to get to the waterfall and we had to cross a river too, the water was just until my knee. Then walked through slippery rocks till we founf the waterfall but unfortunately,,not so much water in it, but the pool was still pretty nice. I like how it was there,,it was so green around,,many trees and it was so quiet, and the natural pool was so pretty. I set up my hammock at the perfect spot to watch the waterfall. We took some pictures but all the pictures are pretty much the same..it was just me moving from one place to another but still with athe same background -,-. We were kinda disappointed because not too much water but we really still enjoyed it just laying on hammocks, and swimming, it was so cold.

We stayed there for like an hour and half then we decided to go back but when we arrive at the river, it was flooded and it was pretty high for someone who can’t even swim,,yea me!. We didn’t see it was coming it was so sudden so we decided to wait till the water got down..but we were waiting for like an hour and half and it was almost dark already. So we kept trying to cross but the current was so strong we were so scared to cross. Till my friend tried so hard to cross and found a guy in the field who was willing to help us. Instead of crossing the river, he took us to climb a forest that could take us directly to where we parked our motorbike, we agreed to take that route.

But it wasn’t easy at all, we walked through a very small footpath and it was so slippery and it was kinda raining too,,,and dark,,and if we slip we could fall pretty high and whenever I tried to hold onto something, it was thorny plants -,-. We walked for like 30 minutes and I was scared for like 30 minutes too -,-. It was like everytime I took a step I thought I would fall, but we could make it and we got out exactly where we parked our motorbike. Thanks a lot to that guy, we gave him some cookies and some money for helping us, we were so thankful for that. Mum kept calling me and I didn’t even get signal there, she was so worried cause we know that river is like a main river that if it’s flooded there then the other area even my house could get flood too. It was pretty scary experience but it was still fun. It was more fun when I was already at home, showered, laying in bed thinking about how we got it through :P
