Yesss
again!! I’ve been there 3 times already, but who will ever get bored of
Kenawa’s beauty. One of 7 small unihabited islands in Tano District - West
Sumbawa, kenawa is the most popular one. A tiny pretty island surrounded by
beautiful beaches with small hill on it. Perfeito!!!
I went
camping twice in Kenawa before but few weeks ago i only did one day trip with a
friend. 2 hours driving from Sumbawa Besar, we left Sumbawa in the morning and
luckily got a number of the boatman from a friend so we called him and he offered
to take us for Rp. 250.000/round trip to Kenawa. Actually that’s the normal
price, if you want it cheaper just bring more friends to share cost with.
The boat
was pretty new and big, it could bring up to 15 people but we rent the boat for
2 of us only. It took about 30 minutes boatride to get to Kenawa Island and
Thank God the waves were pretty quiet -,-.
Since it
becomes more and more popular, already many people on the island L. Before it wa always only me and my friends and
no other visitors L. Well it
was fine but it was so much better when it was not too many people :D, more
quiet and peaceful. The more people there, the dirtier it becomes just like
that day i was there, trash everywhere, that’s sad.
But we
found a pretty good spot, away from people and i could set up my hammock but it
was not a good spot for snorkeling -,- and we were just too lazy to move
somewhere else to find a good snorkeling spot, it was freaking hot to walk
around. I even didn’t really wanna climb the hill cause i had done it twice
before and because it was really hot -,- but then i thought i had to do it
again cause the view from the top of the hill was just amazing.
But there
were still some other people on the hill, so while waiting waiting for them to
get down, we went swimming but i wasn’t really in the mood so i was just
swimming less than 10 minutes then decided to just lay on my hammock and enjoy
the view.
Oh and
now they have a small warung (shop) to sell some food and drinks. I don’t know
what i feel about that, i kinda like it like before when it was totally empty
but i know some people will want to enjoy some drinks or something on the
island. Well.....i bought noodles and coffee too btw, but,,,yeah,,,,it just
felt different with how it was before.
I wish
they will provide trash can there, it is really need it seriously, it’s super
beautiful island but some people don’t really care about keeping it clean so it
sucks to see trash everywhere. And i heard the worst thing that happened few
days after i went there, a kid played with fire and burnt a pretty big part of savana
on the island. That’s sad, i mean it’s good that the kid is fine but where’s
the responsibility of the adults who brought the kid -,-.
But
besides this trash thing, Kenawa is one of the most beautiful island with
beautiful beaches and actually good for snorkeling too, i just didn’t go to the
right spot but i did before. And when we climbed the hill which was just like 5
minutes to get to the top, view of the whole island was just amazing and it was
perfect to see sunset or sunrise too from up there as i did before.
But 3 times
i was there it was always in dry season, i saw my friend’s pictures when the
savana was all green, it was even more beautiful. But no matter what season
Kenawa is always beautiful, what just happened there was awful but it won’t
stop people from visiting Kenawa.
Btw the
boatman picked us up again at 2.30 pm as we requested while other people kept
coming while we were heading back to Sumbawa. And i already wanna go back there
again but i guess i wanna wait till everything is green to see and enjoy a
different look of Kenawa.
