Trip to Gianyar, Ubud, Kintamani – Bali

I wrote few articles about my Bali trip already but recently I went there again and even though it was only for a day but it was the most productive visit I’ve ever done in Bali. In one day we went to so many places  in Gianyar, Ubud and Kintamani.

So Alex, my Sharedtalk buddy, came to Indonesia with his wife Yuki and we planned to meet in Bali, we only had a day to go around together so we decided to see some places in the countryside. After long bargain, we got a rental car including driver and gasoline that could take us for a day trip to places we wanted to go for Rp. 500,000.

Monkey Forest

Monkey Forest
1st stop was Monkey Forest in Ubud, I never really like monkeys but still kinda wanted to see them. I think Alex & Yuki liked it so much more than I did and it made me happy knowing they enjoyed it. Some monkeys were pretty aggressive tho, they took visitor’s stuff, one of them even tried to catch after me and my bag, made me aarrgghhh!!! The entrance fee was Rp. 50,000/person, I don’t really have any good pictures of them since I was busy avoiding the ones carrying their babies -_-

We only spent like 20 minutes in Monkey Forest then we moved to Coffee Plantation, not too far from Monkey Forest. There are some Coffee Plantations along the way but we just randomly chose one. I found this coffee plantation interesting. So someone guided us along the coffee plantation and we could see how they plant and process the coffee, then ended up taking us to their restaurant which has a very nice view. So at the restaurant they served us their coffee products, it was like 7 cups of coffee in different kinds and a mangosteen tea. Saying it was a free tester and that if we liked it we could order the ones from their menu after. But we had enough from 8 tester cups of coffee and tea already, but decided to just order 1 luwak coffee for Rp. 50,000/cup. They also have souvenir shop to sell their products. It was interesting, I don’t really drink coffee anymore but the mangosteen tea was super nice.

Then we drove for another 6 km and got to the famous Ubud Rice Field. I’ve seen many people took pictures here, the place was instagramable but I felt bad with my acnes and sunburn on my face, I didn’t really take pictures of myself. We walked along the rice field with many other visitors, the view was super nice. I hate that I don’t have pics of me there, but it just gives me a reason to go there again next time. Oh when you walk through the rice field, there’s gonna be some people asking for donation, so better prepare small money. They kinda made me feel like I had to pay so I could walk through but from 2 people asking us for donations, we only paid one of them.

After Rice Field, we continued trip to Kintamani, it’s a mountain area. The driver dropped us to a restaurant that has a very nice view of Mt. Batur and the lake. The food wasn’t so expensive for that kind of place, for a portion of food we also got fruit and tea/coffee/coke. The view was just incredible, that I couldn’t wait to finish my food to take pictures, but there are many people and I didn’t really have any good pictures of it L, or maybe I just don’t have any good pictures of everything during that trip -,-

After Kintamani we drove back to Gianyar to Tirta Dempul, it was a Hindu Temple, there were some pools that they believe if you got into the holy water, it could cure your sin or disease. Visitors have to dress up politely and has to cover your body with sarong, they prepare sarong at the entrance and helped you to wear it. If there were not so many people and wasn’t really in a hurry I’d love to get into the pool (seriously need to cure my sin -_-), but how can I expect not too many people there at the temple :D, I think it’s always many people there. Some Balinese are praying, I sometimes felt bad that we had to walk through the praying people, taking pictures and blabla, but I did it anyway -,-. The entrance fee for Tirta Dempul is Rp. 15,000 / person.

We finished exploring Tirta Empul at 4.45 pm, kinda worried if we couldn’t visit our last stop, Tegenungan Waterfall since I’m so into waterfall. But it wasn’t that far from Tirta Empul and we had enough time to see this pretty popular waterfall in Bali. It’s not the biggest one or the most beautiful one but I think it’s the closest from Denpasar. From parking lot we only had to walk less than 500 m to get to the waterfall, climbing up and down the stairs were pretty tiring especially when u had to see many couples around you, it was even more stressful -_-. But anyway we got to the waterfall and many other people around (damn it) I was too tired already so I didn’t take any good pictures (again and again). The waterfall itself is just 7 meters high. There were some spots to take Instagramable pictures :D. The entrance fee to Tegenungan waterfall was also Rp. 15,000/person.

We finally ended our trip around 6 pm by having dinner somewhere in Legian area. My friends had to fly back home that evening anyway, leaving me alone to spend a night in Bali :(. But that day was pretty tiring after visiting all those places in one day, especially having a chance to meet those friends I’ve been knowing online for a pretty long time. Even tho I had to be jealous of their romance all the times during the trip -_-
