Dewa Beach & Cave

Labangka is a district in the southeast part of Sumbawa that is well-known as the biggest corn producer in NTB Provice. But besides that, Labangka has many beautiful spots to explore and enjoy which is too bad that many people don't really know about it yet.

One of the 1st spots i went to was Dewa Cave & Beach. I 1st saw the picture of the cave on my friend's Facebook and it reminded me of a Chrystal Cave in Flores. So i tried to find out more info about it and then convinced some friends to go with me. Well i made my coworkers went there with me even tho we didn't really know the way or where it was exactly. But btw based on the info we got, it's in Labangka 1 and that was all we knew. There are Labangka 1, 2, 3 ,4 and 5 and it's in random order but Labangka 1 is still the closest one.

From Sumbawa Besar to Labangka it takes like 1 hour and 30 minutes driving. When we got to Labangka 1 we ask the villagers how to get to  the cave and beach and after after went to some wrong directions few times we arrived at the beach, the road was pretty bad tho. The beach was really nice but the waters went down so we had to walk to get the waves but it made it looks like many natural pools that we also could swim in it. Its sands are so white and soft.

After enjoying the beach i wanted to find the cave but that beach was so empty that  couldn't see anyone to ask about it. There was just a small cave with some Balinese thing in it so we thought that it was Balinese small temple or something like that. We walked around and tried to find it and started to believe that the temple is the cave i saw on my friend's picture. So we entered but there is no way to go deeper cause as i knew there is a small pond inside the cave. So i walked a lil bit further then i saw 2 men were working on fishpond.

I asked them about the cave and they were so excited about it saying that they usually go there and shower in the pond at the cave and that they could take us there. Well i was happy that i finally found someone but to be honest i was kinda scared too. I mean we were at the empty beach and far from the village and if we went to the cave with them and they did something bad to us then i probably wouldn't be here writing this story. But in the end turned out that these 2 guys were our heroes who took us to the cave till we found the pond and they even refused our money that we meant to give for their help. It's true that we shouldn't judge books by its cover, but still,,we gotta be careful too.

The cave is not that far from the beach, the reason why we didn't find it was because we thought that it would be a way in front of those big rocks at the beach. But we actually gotta climb that rock and walked like 2 hundred meters then we stopped near a small and narrow hole on the ground. If i was there alone i wouldn't think that the hole was actually a way in to the cave. So we entered the cave and climbed down, eh and we didn't bring any lights but we found a torch inside the cave. It wasn't that far to walk till we found the pond that i saw on the picture. Btw one of my coworkers didn't wanna enter the cave cause he said it reminded him of 'Sanctum' movie...sigh.....

We couldn't really swim in it but it was pretty long but narrow. We stayed there in the dark and got into the pool but then we left in a hurry since someone found a snake skin lol. It was pretty scary and funny in a same time. We got back to the beach and talked about the cave for couple hours. I never met those 2 guys anymore even tho i went back to Dewa cave couple times after that but i still remember them, their kindness and our experience exploring the cave :D
