West Sumbawa is one of the
Regencies in Sumbawa Island that is so famous with its nice beaches. I went
there many times actually but never get bored of it (all my pictures in this article are from 4 different occasions but i went there more than that). West Sumbawa itself
consists of 8 districts where in every district they have their own nice
beaches, or any other tourist attractions like waterfalls, caves or traditional
villages
One of my favorite beaches in West Sumbawa is Jelenga Beach. Located in Jelenga Village, Jereweh District, 30 minutes from Taliwang. It is pretty easy to access this beach, if you are from Tano direction and when you got to Jereweh intersection you turn right and just keep going straight for about 3 km. From the main road till the beach the road is pretty good even tho there are some holes in some parts. I live in Sumbawa Besar so it takes like 3 hours driving to get to that beach but it's always worth it \\(^o^)//.
It's like everytime i go to West Sumbawa i always visit this beach cause what i like most about this beach is that everytime i go it's always so quiet. I'm so amazed by how pretty the beach is, with stunning white sands and clear water but most of the time it was empty even tho there are some hotels there. I even shocked that when i wanted to have lunch at the hotel restaurant i went to few months before but they said they are closed cause not so many customers.
When i was there, there were only few foreign surfers cause the wave there is pretty big and it's one of people favorite surfing spots in Sumbawa. Well i don't surf i don't really know much about it but they kinda have to swim pretty far or take a boat to get the waves. Jelenga beach is also a good place to enjoy sunset. There are many trees along the beach which is so perfect for hammock. Never go camping there but i think it's gonna be cool to do that. But as i remember there is a camping ground, not sure how much but you can easily find it when you enter the beach area, they also sell some kind of coffee. Maybe you will find more people in the evening when some ladies and kids go to the beach to find seaweed.
I once stayed at one of the
hotels there called ummmm i forget but it was pretty okay for a night
stay, it only costs about Rp. 150.000, the room is huge. They didn't even ask
our ID card or anything, just told us to pay when we check out :D. I mean i can't believe that they just trust us when we could just leave anytime without paying cause there were no guards at all, i didn't just leave tho, i'm a nice person. The other
hotel that i know costs Rp. 400.000/night. That's the one i talked about
earlier that they are closed cause no costumers. Not sure if people don't
really know much about this beach or they are just not interested but i really
recommend anyone who wants to enjoy nice beach, nice sunset and just to get
relaxed, to visit this beach. Even tho it is really hot there but i'm sure you
will enjoy it :)
