Dangar Ode Island– Sumbawa

Traveling alone is fun, but travel with fun friends are even better. When i 1st found out about Adventurous Sumbawa 2 years ago on Facebook, i joined the group and then we decided to have our 1st meeting just to get to know each other then we started to do our trip together which was to Dangar Ode Island.

Never heard about the island before but it was such a memorable trip cause it my 1st trip with Adventurous Sumbawa which was a beginning of our many adventures together. Dangar Ode is one of many small uninhabited island in the north side of Saleh Bay. From Sumbawa Besar, we drove for about 35 minutes to Prajak Village, Moyo Hilir District, it is a coastal village where we can find a boat to go to some islands around.

I forgot how much money each person spent for the trip, but i think it was less than Rp. 50,000 for round trip boat + coffee and grilled fish. It was only like 30 minutes boat ride to get to the island and the boat was pretty small, i was the only one who brought life jacket and even tho i had it i was still worried, thinking if the boat sinned, who should i help 1st -,-

Dangar Ode Island is pretty small that we could walk around the island within ± an hour. The beach was nice, clean water and white sands and we could see Tambora Mountain view from there. I brought a pretty bad camera so i don’t really have good pictures of the island -,-.

While some people went snorkeling and cooking, i was busy walking around and taking pictures with my coworker who also joined the trip. Too bad it was pretty cloudy when we just arrived then it started to rain in the afternoon and luckily there was a small mosque in the center of the island. Well i guess not so many people go to the island besides fisherman from the nearest villages. The mosque was pretty dirty but it was pretty okay for resting....and praying of course.

On the way back from there was pretty bad and fun experience in a same time. The road was muddy after raining and it was dark already, some friends fell from motorbikes, some motorbikes were broken and umm still thinking what fun about it but umm maybe cause we were together in that situation and that we still laughed about it. A year after that trip, Adventurous Sumbawa went there again to celebrate the 1st anniversary, too bad i couldn’t join cause i went somewhere else, other island in Saleh Bay. But that trip still was the most memorable one cause our friendship is getting stronger and stronger, united by our goal to introduce Sumbawa to the world :)
