Tunak Beach – Central Lombok

Tunak Beach was one of my destinations on my 9 days trip exploring Lombok Island on December 2014. I actually heard about this beach from my lil bro who lives in Lombok. At 1^st i kinda underestimated him cause i thought he hasn’t seen lot of beaches yet so for him this one is beautiful, he was never interested in traveling-,-.

But my bro kept convincing me to go there so i put it on my list and that day we went there he didn’t even join us so we didn't really understand ho to get there. And since my internet was so horrible when i was on trip, i couldn’t get more info about it so i just tried to. From Mataram, we drove our motorbikes about 2 hours away to Central Lombok and we even asked some people about the direction and some people didn’t even know about the beach -_-.

We even went to the wrong place at 1^st, but after asked more and more people along the way then we went to the right direction, but the road was kinda bad because of the rain. I even almost fall few times and there were some places where we had to get off of the motorbike and walk instead. When we arrived at the entrance, it is said that it’s Tunak Mountain instead of beach but they said the beach was 5 km away. So we paid Rp. 5.000/person to the security guard who didn’t look friendly at all and continue driving, the road was not that bad after we entered the entrance and we found lots of butterflies on the way to the beach.

And yuhuuuu the beach was amazing really! we saw a group of people on the hill so we went there cause it must be beautiful from there. But after we got on the hill some people told us to keep walking cause we could see a better view from there, under the tower. So we walked further like 0,5 km away and found the tower and yea it was amazing view. We could see some tiny islands around so i decided to trust my brother lil bit more -,-

No one was around in that area, so it was like that amazing view was only for us. My friend tried to climb on the tower but it looked fragile and dangerous, well i dont think it’s okay to just climb on a tower just to see a better view, even tho it crossed in my mind to do that -,-. But now i realize people gotta stop doing that. It’s freaking dangerous and that is just not what they build the tower for.

The beach was also amazing, it’s not that wide but that’s why it’s beautiful. It’s so clean with soft white sands and green grass around. The waves were pretty big so none of us went swimming. It could be a perfect place for camping especially on the hill.

But tooooo bad that we didn’t thought the beach was far from everything so we didn’t really bring enough water and food. We wanted to stay longer there sooo muchhh!!! But we were freaking thirsty and hungry. It was pretty hot too, there were no trees around the hill where we chilled at. We could just go to the nearest village to get some food but thinking about that horrible road we gotta pass through made us think twice to do that.

So after taking some pictures, laying on the grass, staring at the ocean for awhile, we decided to go back before we die from hunger and would take time for people to find our bodies. But as i’m writing this article, i feel like going back there, it’s been couple years and things must have changed. Maybe the road is better and i’m gonna make sure next time i’ll bring enough food and drinks -,-.
