After cancelling it few times before, on March 5th i finally made
it to Agal Waterfall. It is an amazing 3 levels waterfall located in Marente
Village, Alas District, Sumbawa. The height is about 100 meters or more.
It was pretty sudden that i decided to go there. I had a friend
coming from Bali and i wanted to take her somewhere then i showed her Agal’s
pictures and she seemed interested. So we decided that we would take a bus to
go to Alas but after we hang out with some friends we successfully convinced
those 2 guy friends to join us even tho they had been to Agal twice before.
Luckily they wanted to join so we didnt need to take a bus anymore and used
their motorbike instead \\(^o^)//.
So on Saturday March 5th we actually should have left at 6 am but
yea you know people are always late so we left at 7 am. It actually took only
like 1,5 hours driving from Sumbawa Besar to Alas District but we stopped in
some places so it took 2 hours for us. Well it was still better than a bus,
they would stop million times and maybe we would arrive in Alas 3 hours later,
but btw from Alas terminal to Marente village it took only like 20 or 30
minutes driving. We stopped again somewhere to buy some food and finally
arrived in Marente at 9.30 am.
When
we arrived, we met another friends too from Adventurous Sumbawa, it was like 15
people so we went trekking to the waterfall together. From the parking lot we
walked a lil bit and gotta cross the river, well pretty deep for a short girl
me, it was until my hips.
Then
we gotta walk through the forest climbing up and up and up, stopped taking a
rest few times and we accidentally took different way with other friends which
was further but we met again when we were about to arrive at the waterfall. It
took like 2,5 hours trekking and when we arrived it felt so amazing, the
waterfall was so nice, it was with 3 levels of waterfalls, the 1st level was
pretty high.
After
taking some pictures (yea that's the 1st thing i did -,-) my friends and i
climbed up a lil bit more and found a spot to set up our hammocks, and i got
the perfect spot woohoooo. While laying in hammock, many other visitors kept
coming and climbing up higher than us. So happy to see the enthusiasm of
visiting this waterfall even tho they have to walk like 2,5 hours.
The
water was so cold, i didn’t go to swim at all even tho there were some small
natural pond that looks so interesting, i actually kinda regret as i'm writing
this article i suddenly think about that why didn't i just get into the
water..........btw that’s the reason to be back there again i guess.

We
were only there for like an hour,,or less :( my friend said it’s
rainy season and it’s gonna be kinda dangerous if we got back late,, something
like flood and yeah,,so it kinda scared me so okay we gotta get back so soon
(another reason to be back).
When
we gotta cross the river again on the way back, we took some pictures again and
stayed there a lil bit, some friends were swimming. And for people who cant
swim (like me) laying on the ground watching people swimming was pretty fun -,-
When
we were back to the village each person shared Rp. 10.000 (less than $1) for
the local guide. Back to Sumbawa Besar around 4 pm feeling pretty satisfied
that i finally went there but not satisfied enough cause i didn’t swim and
didn’t stay there long enough :P but i absolutely will be back there again and
bring more friends, wanna join? \\(^o^)//
