Last October 24-25, our amazing local traveler community
Adventurous Sumbawa, did an open trip to explore some nice beaches in Labangka.
About 145 people participated in this trip.
Labangka itself is a district in the south part of Sumbawa island.
This area is well-known as the biggest corn producer in West Nusa Tenggara
Province. But besides their huge corn land, Labangka has many nice beaches with
their big waves that still many people don’t know about. It’s all still pretty
much hidden. Pretty difficult to access but that’s one of the purposes of this
trip, to promote all those hidden beaches and attract more people to visit it.
Now local government is also working on the road and stuff, well that’s how it should be, promoting the place without building the infrastructure is meaningless.
So on Saturday morning, October 24th we should have met at 6 am and left at
7 am, but yeeehhh can’t really expect everyone to be on time. We met at the
park and left around 7.30 am. We all drove motorbikes but we got couple cars to
bring all our camping stuff. From Sumbawa Besar to Labangka District took about
2 hours driving. 1st we went to Labangka 3, from the village to the 1st beach was not that far, it was like 20
minutes driving but the road was so dusty and rocky, and pretty much like
roller coaster in some points lol, dusty and rocky roller coaster, not a good
combination -,-
So the 1st beach was
Leppu Beach, i went there once before. It was still as beautiful as i could
remember. Stunning white sand and big waves, and no one else was around, i mean
besides our team. Some people climbed the cliff where they could see nice sea
view from there. I didn’t but i did that before so i prefer to just sit on
sands and had my early lunch :D. Leppu is my one of favorite beaches in Sumbawa
tho, so beautiful, so quiet, so hidden \\(^o^)// We were there for like an hour only
tho, so so hot.
After
Leppu, we were back to the main road and continue to the next place, Labangka 1
to see Liang Dewa Beach, and i’ve been there before too. But this time we went
to the other part of the beach, there was a cave near this beach but we didn’t
go there, but again, i’ve been explored the cave too before :D it was great,
but some of my friends before were to afraid to get inside at that time, they
said it reminded them of that Sanctum movie lol. We only stayed at this beach
for like 30 minutes. The road to this beach is pretty much the same
as to Leppu Beach, unless not so extreme roller coaster. It was just rocky and
dusty, and again no other people around besides our team. The thing i like
about this beach is the waves were pretty far from the shore, it made it look like
there were many natural pools near the shore.
After
Liang Dewa we stopped somewhere to take a rest, some had lunch or drank coffee
and bought some drinks. Till then we continue our trip to the camp site in
Tanjung Panas, Labangka 4, which only took about another 30 minutes driving.
From the main road to campsite is not that far, it was like 1,5 km. So the
location was like a cliff and to get to the beach we gotta climb down with
webbing, well we could also go to the other part of the cliff to get to the
other beach easily without webbing. So we decided to build our tents on the
cliff cause it was pretty dangerous at the beach area, big waves could come
anytime unexpectedly.
At
night we all sat together and even the District Mayor came that night to our
camping site to welcome us. Singing and cooking and eating together, sounds of
the waves gave me chill and the stars looked wonderful. Even tho we had tents,
many people preferred to sleep outside.
The
next day after we did our baby turtle release to the ocean and plant some trees
in our campsite, we went to some other beaches in Labangka 5, it was pretty
nice. I set my hammock and it felt so peaceful staring at the ocean. The
beaches looked amazing with clear ater and white sands. We ate lunch together
there and there was a lake near the beach where most of the guys just went to
swim. The road to Labangka 5 beaches was pretty bad and dusty.
But btw 2 days in Labangka was really nice
experiences. Visiting nice beaches and meeting lots of new friends. More people
gotta see these beaches and i highly recommend it. But i hope they will finish
working on the road very soon to make it easier to access.
