Most of
people probably think that Moyo Island is all about fancy resort and Mata Jitu
waterfall. But besides that Moyo has some nice beaches, like Tanjung Pasir
which is located in a south part of Moyo Island.
The easy
way to get to Tanjung Pasir is from Ai Bari, a fisherman village in North Moyo
District, Sumbawa. From Sumbawa Besar to Ai Bari takes about 30 minutes
driving. Nothing to worry about the road anymore, before it was pretty bad but
now they fixed it. But there is no public transportation going there, so most
of the time people drive their own vehicles and for travelers i suggest to just
rent motorbike,,or maybe hitchhiking.
For boat
itself, me personally think it’s pretty expensive, for a 20 minutes boat ride,
it costs about Rp. 200.000 – Rp. 400.000 round trip, but twice i went there was
always with my friends from Adventurous Sumbawa group. We did an open trip
where we share all the costs include meals, so it’s cheaper that way. But i
guess it also depends on your bargain skill, i’m not good at it so i never
bother to bargain -_-.
Lately, the local government set the entrance fee to enter the beach area, i’m not sure how much but i’ll find out and update the price soon. You can also rent snorkel gear and mask from the villagers in Ai Bari Village that cost you about Rp. 25.000 for a day. At the beach there is only 1 building for local guards and probably can be used by visitors too,,,well we did use it before to keep our stuff and chose to sleep outside,,all of us, without any tent, actually we had tents but no one really wanted to use it. There is no toilet or restaurant or hotel there. So if you wanna go camping you should prepare enough food or maybe you can just go fishing. In the evening usually some fishermen will stop and go fishing at Tanjung Pasir.
Tanjung
Pasir is one of best snorkeling spots in Sumbawa. I did once with a lil help
from my friends since i can’t swim, and it was really beautiful. I was
surrounded by pretty fish and corals. I never have any underwater camera so i
don’t have my own underwater pictures but here i posted some from my
Adventurous Sumbawa friends. The water is so blue and clear, i successfully did
my 1st back floating there \\(^o^)//.
You can also see a wonderful sunset from Tanjung Pasir.
But
visitors gotta be careful with the wild animals that can just come closer to
your camping site like what happened to us before when we were asleep and surprised
by a wild pig in the middle of the night. And since it’s an empty beach, don’t
leave any trash and keep the beach clean.
